COST- COopération européenne dans le domaine de la recherche Scientifique et Technique

NEWS: The participation of researchers in Switzerland in the programme COST is not affected by the referendum against mass immigration. No restrictions should be applied in the planning of future COST Actions (e.g. Open Calls of the year 2015) in Switzerland or including Switzerland-based scientists.

COST is a platform for trans-European collaboration and co-ordination of nationally-funded research activities. Swiss researchers can either join an existing COST-Action or launch a new Action in response to an open call.

In Switzerland, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI, is responsible for the financial, scientific and administrative co-ordination of COST.
COST actions fund networking and co-ordination activities. In addition the SERI makes funds available for the partial financing of research projects linked to COST actions. (How to submit a request for COST research funding COST).

New COST-Actions

At 190th Meeting of the COST Committee of Senior Officials (CSO), which took place in Brussels on the 13th & 14th May 2014, 40 new COST Actions were approved. These are also open to researchers in Switzerland:

Overview of  COST Actions

Here you can find an overview of all current COST Actions (see Approved Actions and COST countries action participation overview). These are open to all COST members countries. If Switzerland is not involved in a particular COST action and you would like to participate, please contact the COST office at the SERI.

"COST stimulates new, innovative, interdisciplinary and broad research networks in Europe. Proposals playing a precursor role for other European programmes and/or initiated by early-stage researchers are especially welcome."
